House in the Mountains
About the project
The concept of this house in the Swiss mountains is based on the use of environmentally sound materials. Our task was to carry this approach into the interior — through natural finishes, the choice of upholstery and attention to the textures a person touches every day.
Wood defines the character of the space: the exposed structure of the pitched roof, wall panelling, floors and built-in furniture create a sense of warmth. Stone with an expressive natural pattern complements this base, while soft textiles and calm tones make the generous rooms feel cosy.
In the living room the height of the roof is emphasised by a composition of large pendant lights. Low sofas and long bookshelves bring the space to a domestic scale. The dining area with its long table continues the overall composition, and terraces connect the interior with the surrounding mountain landscape.
The private rooms keep the common palette but differ in colour, lighting and detail. Richer wood tones and green and terracotta accents add variety. At the heart of the project remains the natural expressiveness of materials — their pattern, tactility and capacity to create a comfortable environment for living.
