About the project
Four-metre ceilings and a historic building in central Kyiv set the scale. Plaster mouldings, walnut parquet and emerald marble form the ground for contemporary furniture and bold colour.
The centrepiece of the living room is a composition of kinetic flower-shaped lights. As they open, they change their silhouette and fill the space with soft light. Their movement against the relief ceiling links the classical architecture with contemporary technology.
Colour is distributed among individual pieces and surfaces: vivid upholstered furniture, a glass wardrobe and a fireplace clad in orange glass. White walls balance the saturated accents and the expressive pattern of the stone. In the bedrooms this freedom continues in combinations of coloured carpeting and wallpaper that give each room its own character.
The cabinetry was designed to bespoke drawings. A home cinema with a projector, ceiling-mounted acoustics and ducted air conditioning are integrated into the overall composition. In this way the apartment’s formal scale is combined with everyday comfort, and the richness of its materials with a light, lived-in setting.
